Dr. Shyamali Singhal

Dr. Singhal is a Surgical-Oncologist with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology with over 20 years of experience taking care of complex cancer patients. She is the Medical Director of the Cancer Program at El Camino Hospital in Silicon Valley. Patients don’t mention some of the small things like dry skin, cracked nails, hair loss to their physicians. These items lead to a loss of self-esteem and changes in body image. Self-care is important to restoring the sense of wellbeing. She believes that patients should be educated about some of these side effects and given tools and recommendations to help with all of these issues. Together with her team of oncologists, dermatologists, and estheticians, they are bringing knowledge and solutions to patients and their caregivers.

Julie Bach

Julie has had a profound impact. As the Founder of Wellness for Cancer (WFC), she has changed the way spas approach those fighting cancer or dealing with side effects from cancer. A patient advocate, she has been instrumental in creating awareness for the role of spas as her organization has trained in more than 54 countries. Bach also manages cancer outreach programs in Colorado. “Julie has gained global recognition as a beacon for cancer awareness and training within the spa and wellness industry,” says Monica Helmstetter, event director of SPATEC NA, and founder of Spas Pushing Limits. “Bach answers many emails from therapists who are either going through cancer treatment themselves or assisting loved ones undergoing treatment.” This became the impetus for the “Giving Back to Our Own” program in which she is raising funds and identifying properties willing to host retreats to finance the travel needs of selected professionals to spas where they themselves may reconnect, and heal. Julie puts her heart and world into this mission and deserves to be recognized.
